Recipe for Wednesday

Filed Under food, recipe | Leave a Comment

Today’s recipe: Dorrito Dinner
You will need:
-1 bag of Dorritos
-2 cans cream of mushroom soup
-1 lb ground beef (cooked)
-2- 4 oz cans tomato sauce
- 1/2-3/4 of a pkt of taco seasoning
-tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, olives, celery onions, and other misc. toppings

To make:
Combine muschroom soup, tomato sauce, taco seasoning, and ground beef in a pot. Use the tao seasoning to taste, but remember that the Dorrito chips are VERY flavorful, so if you add too much taco seasoning, the combination will be powerful. When in doubt, dip a chip into the sauce to taste and see if it is too strong or not enough)
Heat on stove top until warm. Serve over the Dorritos and top with cheese and other toppings you like. yummy!!

(This recipe may sound a little strange, but is a favorite at our house and always gets guests asking for the recipe!)

Hair Gel

Filed Under Kids | 2 Comments

Today while we were sitting at church I kept smelling the strangest thing. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but finally narrowed it down to Tater’s hair. My sister was very kind and had styled Cookie’s and Tater’s hair for me while I got Superkid dressed. I leaned over and asked her “What did you use to style Tater’s hair?” She replied that she used the gel that my brother (17) uses to style his hair with. I shrugged and said “hum, smells like shaving cream” and thought nothing of it. About 5 minutes later, I turn to see my mom, dad, brother (the 17 year old) and the sister in question all laughing hysterically. When I shot them a questioning look she confessed that she had in fact used shaving cream to style Tater’s hair with.

So…just in case you are wondering…yes, shaving cream works well as a sytling agent. BUT I to have to warn you…even 6 hours and an attemt at washing it out with a washcloth later, it still smells JUST LIKE shaving cream.

When we got home, we showed my sister what gel looks like. ;o)

Chicken Delight

Filed Under food, recipe | 1 Comment

I have decided to start blogging some of my favorite recipes. I will try to enter them in on Wednesday so that you know when to expect them ;o)
The recipe for today is Chicken Delight. This is a family favorite and loved by all who taste ;o)

You will need:
-3 to 4 chicken breasts, cooked and cubed (I like to boil them until done)
1- 4oz can of sliced mushrooms
1 - 8oz brick of cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
Salt and pepper to taste
2- packages of Crescent rolls
2- cans of Cream of Chicken Soup

Instructions:
Mix the butter and cream cheese together in a bowl. When thoroughly mixed, add the mushrooms, chicken and salt and pepper. Open crescent rolls and place about 1 T. to 1 1/2 Tablespoons in the center of the crescent rolls and then fold the roll around the mix until the mix is completely surrounded by the roll. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Continue to do this to each of the rolls until all the rolls or all of the mix is used up.
Bake according to crescent roll directions.

While the rolls are baking, mix the cans of Cream of Chicken soup with 1 can of water to make a gravy. Serve the rolls with the gravy over the top fresh out of the oven.

yum!!

“Big Band-aid”

Filed Under Kids, Ouchies, laughter | 1 Comment

Cookie went to the local greenhouse yesterday with her Papa (a grandpa) and a few of the other grand kids. While she was there she fell and skinned her knees. One of them was rather roughed up, so when she got home I cleaned it up and put a band-aid (the regular kind) on for her. Later on that night just before bed, she decided that her other knee needed a band-aid too. She was very resourceful and got one for herself out of the cabinet. ;o) Can you tell what it is?

Yep. that’s a maxi pad. Like I said VERY resourceful… Ü

Burger seeds

Filed Under Kids, food, laughter | Leave a Comment

Well, all is great and we are in Utah safe and sound.  Most of my posessions are loaded into a storage place and we are living in one of the bedrooms of my inlaws house.  I’m so glad they have taken us in!  The kids are having a blast playing with their cousins and messing up Nana’s house all day everyday!

During the move, at one dinner shortly before the truck came (since I had packed all the dishes and cooking supplies) we were forced to get some burgers from a local fast food joint.  They were yummy and had the kid of buns with the sesame seeds on top. As we were eating, Superkid says, “Mom, these are GREAT!”  followed by, “Can we take one of these burger seeds and plant it so that more burgers will grow? That would be SO great!”

To which I almost choked on my food and said that it wouldn’t be a good idea if we were moving in a day or two and had to leave them.  ;o)
