Lake Cookie

Filed Under Christmas, Kids, laughter, parenting, potty training | Leave a Comment

This is Awnya coming to you live from Lake Cookie where the rising flood waters have overwhelmed the toilet and are spilling out onto the floor and all surrounding objects. The cause of the flooding seems to be an entire roll fo double sized toilet paper thrown into the toilet all at once and then an attempt was made to flush it down the drain. Much to the avail of a little cookie, the attempt was unsuccessful and the flood waters began to rise…

How big was the mess? Well…lets just say it SOAKED 9 full sized bath towels and a hand towel (and I rang out the hand towel like 6 times…). She was just using the bathroom and came out saying “the water”. Well, she tends to turn on the water to wash her hands with a little to hot, so she’s always saying that. I didn’t thing anything of it. She persisted. I just kept saying, “come over here and I will wash your hands with you in the kitchen sink”. It finally took our little Superkid saying “There’s something wrong in here” and we both came a running. Hence, Lake Cookie. On the plus side, I just BARELY (as in like 30 minutes before) cleaned the bathroom top to bottom and so the toilet was fairly clean. The floor used to be sparkling. I think I will wash it again.

I do want to give myself a pat on the back for thinking quickly enough to turn off the water that goes to the toilet. That helped a little bit. How did we unclog you ask? Well, I looked and say a big old clump of TP right there and so I reached in and grabbed it. Normally I wouldn’t have even considered this, but it was sanitized 30 minutes ago, so its not completely gross yet, right?! The rest went down the drain. Now I think back and I’m sick…but I guess you do what you have to do!

Well, I’m off again to clean the bathrooms yet again…My in-laws are coming for a visit in 2 days and I want them to think that I actually DO clean my house!….

pretending and growing up…

Filed Under Kids, laughter, love, parenting | 3 Comments

Today while Superkid and I were playing “pretending” he was a dog that wanted to be walked. He handed me his leash, but I was lazy and didn’t want to run around. I told him that Little Mouse would walk him.

Let me just stop to clarify who Little Mouse is. He is Superkid’s imaginary friend. He used to carry him around everywhere and was SO careful with him. He was bout 3 or 4 inches high and could jump good (because my BIL’s tried many times to squish him…)

Well, Superkid looked at me and then looked at Little Mouse and GOBBLED HIM UP! I’m serious! He ATE his imaginary friend! I was shocked and said in disbelief, “You ATE Little Mouse?!” and he said, “Who’s Little Mouse?”

My little boy is growing up! It was a funny little incident (I will admit it), but it still leaves me feeling a little sad…As my Mom would say…Time to have another one!! ;o)

chocolate??? or is it?

Filed Under Kids, laughter, parenting, potty training | 4 Comments

I want to start out by saying that I’m completely mortified by this post!  I can’t believe that it actually happened and feel TERRIBLE.  That being said, I am sure that it has happened to others…so I’m going to post it anyways.

I am watching a little girl and her brother a few days a week.  It has been fun.  She has just turned 12 months old.  I spotted her walking down the hallway the other day and she had a chocolate in her hand.  “How did she get into chocolate?” I thought, trying to think of all the possibilities.  As I get closer, I realize that its not chocolate, but poop!  A big handful full.  Upon further investigation, she had that big handful, some on her other hand and some around her mouth (YUCK!!!!!) Cookie has been really wonderful at using the bathroom lately, but not so wonderful at flushing or telling me that she has gone.  She had done her “thing” and left the door open.  There was a big mess in the bathroom and of course poor Baby!   We got her all cleaned up and I decided that it probably wasn’t a great idea to tell her mom about our little excitement.  When mom came to pick her up what was the first thing that Superkid says?  “Baby ate poop today!” ….Good luck trying to keep a secret around here with a very observant and inquisitive 4 year old Superkid around!!

And again, just for the record….YUCK!

Mean vs. Nice

Filed Under Kids, food, laughter, love, parenting | 1 Comment

Today at lunch, super kid was having a little tantrum.  He wanted to drink Kool-aid, which I didn’t want to make.  I offered him other options, but they weren’t satisfactory.  After about 5 minutes of him whining and crying, I finally said “Water or nothing.” After that there was a loud scream and a fit (of course).  He stopped and I though, “Good, he has given it up and will have water to drink.”

He looked at me through tear-filled eyes and said “I want Nice Mommy to come back!” and being the Mean Mommy, I just looked at him and tried not to laugh.

My Cat is OCD

Filed Under Kids | 1 Comment

Spaz.  That is his name.  It has totally fit him since the day we brought him home.  I found him at a garage sale.  Cookie fell in LOVE and so I gave in to her cute little request.  (I had wanted a cat for a while though…)

So what does he do that is OCD?  Well, …If his litter box is too messy for his liking then he will follow me around and MEOW until I clean it…(which I do everyday anyways, but sometimes he just wants it CLEAN!)

He will not drink the tap water.  Its softened and everything.  He wants the reverse osmosis water.  The stuff that I drink.  For goodness sakes…(I want to yell at him) YOU ARE A CAT!  C-A-T…understand??!!

He will refuse to drink the water I give him and just meow until I give him the good stuff…

He wipes his feet.  Okay, so he gets out of the litter box and shakes his feet off.  One shake in the box, one good shake out of the box.  Now, he has to go and wipe his feet off on the side of the laundry basket (because his box is in the laundry room). He wipes until he is satisfied that his paws are clean enough.

Crazy, spastic cat.  But he is sure loving to the kids and puts up with a lot of tormenting!  And despite this apparent OCD thing he has going on, I still like him a little bit…occasionally….;o)
