Here is a twist on the Thankful Turkey idea from the last post. I drew this turkey to use as a table decoration at out Thanksgiving Dinner, but you can also write things your thankful for on the feathers. It is totally cute! There is a large copy and and then 2 on a sheet which are much smaller so you can decide which is best for you. Color, cut, enjoy!! Then share with your friends so they can enjoy too.

With the holidays coming, here are some fun ideas you can do with the kids/grand-kids this holiday season–>
Thankful turkey- Write down the things you are thankful for on feathers and glue them to a Turkey head and body. See how many feathers you can make.
Thankful chain- make a chain with all the links containing things you are thankful for. Make the chain out of fall colors like brown, yellow, orange, and red. It will double as a beautiful holiday decoration.
Christmas trees- Draw a big Christmas tree on a piece of green construction paper. Make some green frosting or buy some white frosting and color it green with food coloring. Use the frosting to “glue” fruit loops to the tree to decorate it. Use lots of colors. You can decorate it to be 2 or even 3 high. Be creative. Eat it if you like when you are finished or even while you are crafting.

Thanksgiving countdown chain- similar to the thankful chain, this one counts down to Christmas. Put 1 loop for each day until Christmas day. I like to use red and green and sometimes white. Let the kids rip 1 of the loops off each day.
Christmas List- A great idea for practicing spelling, handwriting or cursive is the Christmas list. Have your kids write a new list every day until Christmas. They are learning and won’t even know it.
Oreo Turkeys- are always fun. You can find instructions here for those.
Those are just a few things that we do around our house. Stay tuned for more ideas over the next few weeks.

Do you ever find yourself running around crazy-like? Do you feel like you are a chicken with its head cut off? Do you feel that you are barely finishing ANY task, let alone finishing them all or the best of your abilities?
SOLUTION: Slow down to speed up. While this may sound like an oxymoron, it is a tried and true secret of getting everything done.
Try this. Sit back in your chair for a minute. Close your eyes and simply BE. What do you smell, hear, feel? Surrender yourself to the things around you. Let go of all other thoughts and just BE int he moment. (ok, ready….go!)
When you are done, notice how much more focused you are. Did the stress just melt away? Are you ready to tackle the next thing you need to do?
Now your homework- Several more times today, take time to just BE. You don’t need to take a long time with this, just a minute or 2, but the break will allow your mind to relax, focus and you will feel re-energized! I have been truly amazed how much better I feel as well as how much better my relationship are with my kids and husband. It is SO nice! And in the end, I am much more efficient in getting the things done that I need to do.
So, while it may still sound a little silly- Slow Down to Speed Up…and do it today!
