“Its what you do with what you’ve got that makes you who you are.”
I love this quote. It is so totally true. Each of use is blessed and has challenges in our lives. Some seem harder than others, but it is what you choose to do with the things you have that truly makes the difference.
Why sit and wallow in our trials and whine “why me” all the time. Take what you have, difficult or not, and make lemon-aid out of those lemons. Put on a happy face and keep trucking along.
Just something I’ve been thinking about today…

This is by far the best can opener that I have ever owned! I am simply in love.
While it was on my wish list for a little while, I finally purchased my Pampered Chef can opener a few months ago. My life will never be the same. While it operates a little differently than a regular can opener I love it.
How is it different from other can openers you ask? Well to start with, it removes the lid a little differently so that there are NO sharp edges. Let me repeat that. No sharp edges! My rubber scrapers are scraping along the inside of a soup can they are no longer getting nicked by a sharp edge. Another bonus – I can wash the cans and use for projects or something like a pencil holder without having to get a pair of pliers.
The can opener also opens the can in such a way that you can put the lid back on the can and reseal it. Now I’m not talking about putting it back on the shelf, but if you need to keep it in the fridge for a few hours it is so nice to not have to dirty a storage container.
Another wonderful thing is that my kids STILL haven’t figured out how to use it. Someday I may teach them, but it has been so nice not finding half opened cans in the fridge anymore!
This can opener never actually touches the food inside the can, so I am not having to constantly wash my can opener. Our old can openers would get rusty or just be in the sink so much that it was never convenient.
Drawbacks- the only thing I don’t like is that I used to use the lid to drain the water of my tuna in a can. The lid doesn’t go inside the can anymore, so I can’t do this. I have instead been using a fork and it works just fine.
So- long and short of it, if you don’t have a Pampered Chef can opener, add it to your list. It is the LAST can opener you will ever get!
*Disclaimer- I have not been given anything for writing this review. I love this product and just wanted to share with you. Opinions are my own.

Cookie tells me today that she can’t be friends with any of the boys at school. Turns out that yesterday, one of them told her that she was cutting in line to which I’m sure she replied that she certainly was NOT cutting in line.
And now that is it. None of the boys are her friends…EVER AGAIN, as she put it.
I guess I should be relieved and thankful. When I was a kindergartner I didn’t mind the boys at all and so when one of them asked me if I would marry him, I even agreed. I still remember the look on my moms face when I came home with a ring (way too big and definitely taken from his mom). My mom sent it back with me the next day and made me return it. She also made me tell him that we couldn’t get married for a long, long time.
For now, she will have nothing to do with any of the boys and I’m starting to think that this is a good thing.

A new favorite here at our house.
You will need:
- Tortillas
- cheese
- pizza sauce
- toppings of your choice
- butter (optional)
Heat a skillet or griddle. Lightly butter one side of a tortilla and place the butter side down in the pan. Spread pizza sauce on 1/2 of the tortilla and then top with cheese and toppings of your choice. Fold the half without anything on it on top of the side with everything. let cook until golden brown and then turn and cook until that side is golden brown too. These will be hot, so cool before feeding to kids.
This is a fun recipe to get creative with. My kids love these and can’t get enough. Enjoy!

Today I would love to share with you a truly amazing product, the Rainbow vacuum. The reason that I’m sharing has nothing to do with getting one for free (I wish it did though) or monetary compensation…just a love for this vacuum. Let me tell you why…
July 1st we had the wonderful opportunity to move. While we were excited to do it, only a few days before the actual move, our landlords informed us that we were to have the carpets all cleaned or loose a portion of our deposit. While this was not in our lease, we decided to be the nice tenants and just clean the carpets. And then, to top it off, the place we were moving into was left in questionable condition, so we needed to clean all the carpets at the place we were moving into.
Thankfully, my in-laws own a Rainbow Vacuum and carpet cleaner attachment. Let me tell you how fabulous it was! We were able to get out stains at the old place that had been there since before we were. At the new place, there were stains on the rug from where bug spray had been put on it and then dirt collected and we were able to get those up.
In the past, we have rented carpet cleaning machines and they have been expensive, noisy and poor quality. The Rainbow machine was quick, a lot quieter and the rugs were really clean when we were done. Now, not only am I a believer in the Rainbow vacuum, but have shown others their magic and converted them as well.
So thank you, Rainbow Vacuum Company, for having a superior product and thank you to my in-laws for letting me borrow this exceptional machine.
(as for me…I’m saving my pennies to buy one in the future)

So I heard (somewhere) that if you simply wear a pair of 1 lb weights on your wrists as you do you daily stuff that it will tone you arms in no time flat. So I have purchased a set or 1 lb weights and I’m wearing them around. Results thus far: I am way more of a pansie than I thought I was. Holding the baby now feels like a million pounds.
I didn’t think that 1 pound would make all that much difference, but it does. I have cheated today doing the dishes and the laundry because my arms felt super weak. I know…pathetic.
They give me something to do. When I’m standing, listening to the kids or on hold on the phone, they are fun to wiggle around on my wrists.
So…we will see if my arms actually benefit from my experiment or not….
